Hello - I am brand new to keeping fish, and have managed to keep a few fish happily for about 12 months. I have just been given a small crayfish, about 1.5" long. I am told it is a marble crayfish, and that it will have babies all by itself - eggs that will collect under the tail and later hatch. Is this true, or is someone playing a joke on me? Surely it is necessary to have a male and female in order to produce eggs? How do I tell if the one I have is male or female? any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Have a look here, they can re-produce on their own yes as they are A-sexual

or look in the invert section in the forum here
