This is the biggest one, but I've seen approx 5-6 in the last couple of days. I received some new plants approx 3 weeks ago. The seller told me that he has not seen any snails in his aquarium in over a year, but when he did have them there were Malaysian trumpet snails and pond snails. Could this be a trumpet snail? Thanks for your help so that I can read up about whatever they are.
That looks like a pond snail to me...all my malaysian trumpets have more elongated bodies topped off by defined horn-like points:

He lied!lol
I think those are pond snails. You will have many if you have one. They are not bad but do multiply very fast.If you are not feeding a lot the population will grow slowly but they will still multiply.

For sure pond snails. Squish them, they make great fish food. Otherwise they can take over your tank very quickly. Next time do a snail dip on any plants before adding them to your tank.

They are pond snails, they are fun little dudes. Dont feed to much and they will not become much of a problem. I have them every where, they dont bother me at all.

Same here.
If you decide you want a snail-free tank, get rid of them sooner than later. Personally, I don't mind...unless they do severe plant damage. Which is why I like my mts...they shuffle the substrate, only appear at lights out, and don't touch my plants.

ID: yep, that's a snail alright. :hmm3grin2orange:
One of any number of species collectively called "pond" snails. If the person you got the plants from really hasn't seen any in his tank it's probably because there are only a few that the fish haven't eaten, but they still lay eggs. In a tank without anything that will eat them 6 will quickly become several dozen, then several hundred if there's enough leftover food.

I like looking at the pond snails. There are two or three varients that I've seen. The varient that I like best are the snails with whitish body with wide airplane wing "ears" (I think they look like cats). I don't see those ones that often in my tank and they don't live that long. I would never kill those cuties.

How big do pond snails need to be before they start reproducing?
I've been squishing them as i see them but all the ones I see are about 1/8" long. Are they at a size to be layng eggs?
I just lifted a piece of drift wod and squished about a dozen of them.
