Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a 55 gallon tank with a aqua clear 70 filter and an undergravel filter, (the white plastic kind) hooked to two powerheads 3C1. My question is I have way too many bubbles at the top of my water. I can't get the powerheads to not shoot out a little bit of bubbles plus the aqua filter makes a few bubbles because it is the water fall kind. I also had a air pump hooked to a waterfall type ornament inside the tank also, right now I don't have it plugged in because it causes more bubbles. I don't like the bubble effect inside my tank or the layer of white bubbles on the top of my tank. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it. By the way I was told that maybe my (don't know the real name for them) but the nozzels on the air tub coming off of the powerhead were bad, so I bought some new ones and it still doesn't help. Thanks for your time in advance.

i had the same trouble with my powerheads. take away the air tubing with the powerheads and fully submerge the powerheads in water. Thats what i did with the powerheads in my salt tank

I am new to this whole powerhead thing, so I should not hang them on the back I should just set them on top of the cylinder that attaches to the white plastic base and they won't make bubbles? Are they fully submersable? Thanks for your help I'm bout to go try it now. I will let you know how it works out. Thanks again

90% are fully submersible. With UGF's, just place the intake on top of the plastic pipes coming up. With tanks with no UGF's, just use suction cups.
If the powerhead sticks up when its laying on the UGF tube, cut the UGF tube down with scissors

It worked, thank you so much. I don't have bubbles any more but I do sometimes get a little tornado by the opening where the air tube goes, this isn't a problem is it?

nope. when i used to have a 10g nano salt tank i had that with my powerheads. It may draw in air after a while and shoot a few bubbles but it doesnt harm anything

Power heads usually come with the air line tubing if you want bubbles or a small black plug you stick in the airline hole to block the bubbles. I usually kept the hole blocked. The top part of the power head should stick out of the water and perhaps that would stop that tornado effect. If the hole is left open, I don't know if this will interfer with the suction or not.
With your HOTB filter, you may want to bring the water level up to slow down the current.
