swordtail

Hey guys,
Im not sure if there is a thread for this yet so i decided to make one so everyone can know some behaviors that swordtail have before they are about to give birth.
I have been through 3 births of fry so far with my swordtail and i have noticed some behavior that is not normally normal for the swordtail. One thing that i have noticed is that my swordtail begins to be weary of its surroundings. What i mean by that is that if another fish even try's to get close to its rear it will jolt away or it will chase it off. Another thing i have noticed is lack of movement and lack of hunger. When my swords are about to give birth they will stay either by my plants or they will linger around very slow in a odd way. There fins will be tucked in and they will either rest in plants or rest above the sub-straight. The fish will not come to the top of the water for food instead it will wait for food to fall down so it can get it. The lack of movement is what i normally see, like i said they will stay in plants or by the ground.
Another way to tell when your going to have fry is by the gravid spot. On my pineapple swordtail it always seems it has a gravid spot, i do not know if this is normal or not but it does. I also have a orange mickey mouse swordtail and when people say that the gravid spot gets dark, they can be right and wrong. My orange sword does not get darker she actually gets a redder gravid spot.
The second to last thing i noticed before my swordtail gives birth is the black eyes you see inside the gravid spot. There seem to be more little dots then normal, during birth you can actually watch their eyes go from tummy to the outside world which is very interesting. Just because you may see some black dots inside the gravid spot dosent mean she will give birth that week.
Lastly you will know that your sword is ready when it looks HUGE and it looks like if you poke it it will pop. This happens with a ton of prego swordtails i have seen. They will be huge and their bottom part of their stomaches will look almost squarish from the bottom. There rear end will also look like its at a 90* angle also.
I just decided to type this up since i know everyone loves swordtail's and their fry.
This info has been field research of my fish, and months of studying up on swordtail.
Comments would be great! and other behaviors of other peoples female swords would be great also.
Thanks
Dawson
