Name: Zebra Danio, Zebrafish, Leopard Danio, Glofish(TM)
Scientific Name: Danio Rerio
Size: 1.5 Inches
Diet: Flake food is accepted with gusto
Temperature: 20-28'c.
Origin: India and Malaysia
pH: 6.6-8.0
Minimum tank size: 10 gallons, 5 is acceptable
The ultimate starter fish! Small, doesn't make a lot of waste, active, personable and practically invincible, the Zebra Danio has made quite the impact on the pet scene. Available in many colors and types, these little danios will knock your socks off! Tolerant in most cases of ammonia past 2.5 ppm, can cycle tanks for the beginner not used to a fish-less cycle. Active shoalers, these fish should be kept in a group of at least four, at a fish-to-aquarium ratio of about 1.1 fish per gallon (round down). The only downside to this fish is likely it's incompatibility due to it's small size and active, somewhat boisterous nature.
