I have 5 peppered cory fry. Well, 4 now. 1 is 3 weeks old and 4 are (were) 2 weeks old. I am getting ready for 5 days away.
Wondered how to keep the peppered cory fry alive while I'm gone. I read here that at about 3 weeks you can introduce them back into the main aquarium (somewhere I read it). I've also thought the proverbial wisdom that if fish are too big to fit in the other fishes mouth they won't be eaten.
Sooooo yesterday I put ONE 2 week old cory fry into the main tank (You can see on my signature what I have in there). It was at least 1/2 inch long already. When it first went in, it rested about 2 minutes in place. Then it started swimming. In 10 seconds one of my Platy fry that is about 3 months old, dashed to it and chomped at it's tail. A rummy nose tetra noticed and jumped into the food fest and it was ripped apart and gone in seconds.
So sad.:teareye:
Now the problem at hand... how to feed the cory fry while I'm gone. It is in a little 1.5 gallon tank that I change every day. Sigh. We have an Asperger Syndrome son that's home, but it would be too much for me to train him how to do the complex care. And it would definately be out of sight out of mind for him.
