i have a few red bellies and they wont eat flake or pellets is it ok to feed them a worm or two if the store is out of feeders

I think you could get crickets too, most insects are alright.

thanks for the in put i lost one so there is only two in my tank right now but on saturday im gonna go pick up about 6 more i read it is best for them to be in schools no smaller than six

yup, how big do these guys get? 8 piranhas in a tank might be overstocking...what filter are you using?

its a 30 gallon but the store i get them at they are about the size of a dime as i said i lost one so im sure ill loose some of the new ones . the two i have left are abot the size of a 50 cent peice . i have had them befor and it will lake a while befor they get to big for the tank and i have a 75 gallon for the next tank to move them to, i just have to re seal it first.

oh yeah i tried the worm cuz a pirahana breeder said its ok as a back up food and they shredded it. guess they liked it

thats cool. My lfs has lil piranhas. You can feed white cloud's to him, thats what my lfs does

thanks for all the input, yeah when i went to the pet store they were completly out of all feeders. pirahana are pretty cool get pretty gnarley when they are older the last ones i had were about the size of dinner plates and i couldnt watch when it was feeding time it was just a little to viciouce for me. so what all do you have

It would be better to feed them sinking carnivore pellets. They wont be able to get all of the nutrients they need for healthy growth and good coloration from a feeder.

Using feeders also greatly increases agression.

I think my son had a few at one time and I know he gave them pieces of fresh liver.
