when cycling my tank should I leave the lights on during the day?

doesn't matter. Temperature matters though. The bacteria grows quicker at higher temperatures

If there are plants in the tank then yes,
If no plants then no. All it will do is promote algae.

Zackish, Keep to the routine. Your aquatic creatures require a schedule.
Lights on and off at regular intervals will minimize stress. As with feeding times. The tank will cycle with time. We have to be patient. Good luck.

I just realized that when you bumped this that he has another thread talking about fishless cycling, so i am going to assume that he has no fish or critters in the tank, and should keep the tank lights off to avoid algae.
