I have an empty 20 gallon long (black gravel, silk plants, AC 50 filter, heater, thermometer, glass hood). I'd like to restart this tank with a single male betta and nothing else. Is this tank too large for a happy boy?

I had a 20g long planted tank with just a betta in it. The first few hours he stuck to the same general area in the tank, after that he was making regular laps and patrolling his new kingdom. It's rather surprising when you put a betta into a large tank, they are fairly active and move around a lot. Something you just wouldn't imagine a betta being, until you've seen it firsthand. He explored every inch of that tank. Something I found odd is my betta actually liked going into the current by the hob filter.

there's no such thing as a tank being "too big" for a fish, unless it's unless you're talking about bottom feeders in an usually deep tank.
