View Full Version : Adopted Canary!
I adopted a canary! I don't really want a canary, but no one else wanted this cutie, so I brought him home last Wednesday. He was really ill for several weeks back in the winter...but has recovered. His final vet check gave a clean bill of health and a good prognosis.
I think he has gout. So I'm monitoring his diet and we'll see how it goes.
He's settled into pseudo-quarantine nicely. He's eating, pooping, bathing and singing! He's roughly 1 year old. And to the best of my knowledge he's a buff coloured American Singer Canary.
His name is Montegreen.

Cool, you will love him.
Among my other pets I have a few birds, they are great pets.
Thanks! We have a few birds too.
I'm a bird fanatic! If you make the time for them, they're hands-down the best companion animal...
I have a pionus, an amazon, 3 cockatiels...my daughter has 7 finches and 2 budgies...
...and now 1 canary. We'll see how he does with his diet. Hopefully I can put him together with the finches.

Theres this scarlet mcaw at one of my lfs (tails and scales) sits by the door. When ever somoen comes in, he says "whats up dog" and raises his foot up for a high five. When you leave, he says "take it easy", and raies his foot and makes a fist and says "pound it".
If i had 3 grand, id buy it
Sounds like you have your hands full of feathers too! I haven't ever bred birds...except for chickens...our 'tiels lay eggs, but the hens have never sat through so no hatches (fine by me) and our finches are all males...so no eggs there...
...but I recently helped hand-feed a baby conure...lol...a HUGE mess, but such a sweet baby...
Ringnecks are gorgeous birds! I almost 'rescued' one from the pet store a couple of years ago, but it didn't work out.
Matt...if you really really want to save up for a macaw...do lots of homework first...they're like having a 3 year old FOREVER...and I mean 'forever'...

HAHA!
My grandpa had this green bird that would always sit on his sholder, and my grampa would feed it penuts out of his mouth. It was pretty funny
Our zoo got broken into , and someone stole 2 mcaws named mac and cheese. They just found them 2 nights ago though. Now they have to quarentine them for a month
