View Full Version : breeding tainbow sharks?

I think i have 2 rainbow sharks that are trying to breed!

Since im using 2 seeded filters and seeded gravel in the 55g, and one filter is a biowheel, i tried puting in 2 rainbow sharks. I know puting two in may start fights, but theres enough room for them. I just noticed them not fighting, but wrapping around eachother like in breeding.

Are they breeding, and is it even possible to breed them in aquariums?

Very rare to my understanding. Would be cool if they did breed for you!

it is weird. It definitely wasnt a violent gesture

theyre still going at it. They may get lip-locked for a few seconds then wrap eachother

lol, good plan!

However, the pictus cat fish zipping allover, the kuhli loaches digging, and the giant gourami pecking at snails gets a bit disruptive

LOL! Funny mental image on this, thanks. I needed the laugh to distract me from my sick fish.

what my rainbows are having is like a person having a honeymoon with a running 5 year-old on 600 pixi stix (pictus catfish), a fat trucker eating at a table (giant gourami), and 3 kids making a fort (kuhlis)

it was pure luck. i just bought 2 random ones and wanted to see what would happen if i had the 2 in the 55g.

You should raise some, so you can say, "I've successfully bred and raised rainbow sharks. You've got all those empty tank, so room shouldn't be an issue.
