View Full Version : Common sense I'm sure, but I figured out a good way to keep sand out of the drain!

A bucket!!

It always bugs my gf when I'm doing a water change with the python, how much water gets sprayed everywhere.
And then when I am sucking up crap, it always bothers me how much sand makes it way down my drain.
So I'm multi tasking right now, cleaning, cooking, and doing a wc so I dont want any splashing in the kitchen lol.
I threw an ice cream pail under neath the pythons outlet.
Works great, collects the sand, keeps water from splashing as bad!

Figured I would share if anyone else had these issues.

That'll work quite well.thumbs2: You can put the rinsed sand back in the tank afterwards too!lol

I used to put my fish net over the drain hole and run the water thru that. I've also used cheese cloth but the net was quicker and easier and I just flipped the sand back into the tank.
