Got lucky and picked up the perfect sized bridge for the pond. Was under a friends porch for years and just needed a good powerwashing. Scooped up some arrowheads/hyacynth/lilly pads from friends too!

Also added 100-200 fathead minnow fry (which are growing quick already)

Went across the road with my daughter to try to nab a frog in the big ditch(many leopards and bullfrogs there) but only got one bluegill fry (I suspect it's bluegill) and 4 crayfish. Enjoy................:fish:

The crayfish are something I was gonna do in my pond but I was afraid they would eventually be able to nip a koi.Your pond is looking fantastic,I love that bridge.Dont worry about stocking frogs, they will show up big time all by themselves, especially when it gets dry.

I hope the frogs do show up smaug... the ditch across the road is full of em. Too hard to catch with the small butterfly net we were using, and the overgrowth of picky weeds made it even harder. Might try for some more fish and see what we can get.

Thanks for the good comments smaug and rich!! :ssmile: will keep ya's all updated.. hoping for some major growth in the coming weeks!

Oh man- do we have frogs here! There must have been a half a million tadpoles in the pond this year!

When I did spring maintance- I must have scooped up about a thousand which uh...I tried to save buy the effort was futile. There were still about a good 300 still in the pond when I was done- but the goldfish didn't eat for several days...and they got HUGE. Good protien I guess.... A few tadpoles have made it to adulthood. They are hopping all around the pond and a few have managed to get around to the pool too.

Thanks all for the comments, it was alot of work, but we had a great time building it and now enjoying it!

Lucky you Heatherb, I guess if I'm patient it will pay off to see some frogs come to the pond on their own. There's already lots of toads around it and the frogs are only 100 yards or so away.

thanks for the kind comments again everyone! Another update: the pond is so cystal clear, I could drop in a penny and see it on the very bottom! my dad is very happy with it. The fish and plants are all growing quickly also.

So sunday I decided to try my luck dipnetting in the ditch across the road and what did I catch? 2 baby bass.. think they're smallmouth.. they are now in the pond!
