Friday I get my 125 gallon tank delivered. I had to get it to move my 13 in. common pleco and 6 clown loaches to a bigger tank from a 55 gallon. Which catfish or more than one would you recommend for a tank this size? I don't want more cory's, because I have them in my 29 gallon and 55 gallon.

A single Pimelodus blochii would make a fantastic addition. Honestly tho Id concentrate more on mid-top dwelling species :22:

I agree that you need some top feeders.

I will add probably some Rainbowfish later, maybe Boesemani. Definitly some bigger fish than the swordtails in my 55. I want to take it easy with adding fish. First I have to cycle the tank, but I will have a set up with two 405 Fluval and can take some media out of my Fluval 305 in the 55 also move some of the bogwood from the 55 which gives it a good start with the cycle.

Can't find that one in my fishbook. Is it a close relative to the Pictus Cat? Is it aggressive?

Why do you want a catfish (or several) for the tank? The clown loaches and common pleco will certainly take care of any food on the substrate, and the clowns tend to root around for any that gets "lost" among the gravel.

It is a "pictus" just a large one, they grow to a bit over 9". They arnt aggressive, but they will protect their space and arnt easily bullied. They will also eat any fish that will fit in their mouths.

I agree, if you've got clown loaches and a pleco you should concentrate on middle and top dwelling fish. Your clowns will get pretty big anyway.

I guess I am just a Sucker, when it comes to catfishes. I love them a lot.
I like to get some Rainbowfish or Congo Tetras as schooling fish. Maybe 6 or more? I was also considering a Ruby Shark (some call them Rainbowshark).

I just sold my 3 pictus catfish today. They didn't do well in my community. Too aggressive. If you get a rainbow shark get only one. Two or more will fight.

I'd go with a school of Denison's barbs if your water conditions are suitable, or the rainbows for hard, alkaline water.

Are those the same as Tinfoil barbs?

No, google roseline shark for more info.

oh a torpedo barb. They would be nice. I heard that they are almost extinct in the wild. I also heard that the red-tailed shark is extinct in the wild.

Congo tetras are really nice. I've only seen them for sale a couple times though. Definitely 5+ for a school. Good luck!

If you do get a catfish, I also like pim. blochii. they are excellent cats for a 125. had mine 8 or 9 years now! I have 6 plecos and 6 clowns in with him. As long as you can feed all your bottom dwellers and give them all good shelter, you could easily get a catfish. :fish:

These guys are not picky eaters and durable with even large aggressive fish. Here's mine...
