For anyone who's had these, do you experience a lot of trouble with leaves always falling off? Is it worth the trouble?

Also, not related to the topic but I'm wondering if someone could identify a plant for me. I can only describe it, though. It has very long, whip-like leaves that are really crinkled. I've seen it in a few tanks but I can't quite put a name on it to figure out what it is. It has a sort of wispy look... The leaves usually seem to go all over the place.

A pic or link to a pic of the plant(s) in question would help.
