I got my first plant yesterday. Apparently the SD's won't eat it and so far haven't. I forget what it's called though. I'll try to post a pic soon. It has long, thin, tall leaves. It doesn't have a stem. I'm new to plants so here's a question: How do you prune these plants? When you vacuum the tank, do you just go around all your plants?

When you plant it remove all the dead or ugly leaves, trim the roots to 1/2 or so anfd plant it. It sounds like a sagittarius to me. I believe I spelt that wrong though. Then as it grows remove the old and dieing leaves when you clean.

I planted it yesterday but I may get a second soon. Clip it with scissors?

Could be a val too. Planting would be the same as described above.

Do I use scissors to clip it? If so, would I just use normal scissors or is there a special kind?

Any sharp scissor is fine.

For gravel vaccuming, I don't go in too deep until I get several inches from the base of the plant.

Thanks. The SD's weren't supposed to eat this plant. They started. The pics were from this morning. This afternoon I found chewed leaves. So I took the plant out, clipped it and put it in the 10 gallon for now. The plant is about half the size now as it was in the pics.

Can I make the 10 gallon a planted tank? It will mainly be for QTing fish before I add the fish into the 80 gallon. I will keep a fish or two in the 10 gallon to keep it going though. I also want it to look good.

I'm probably gonna say good bye to my pictus cats today. Too aggressive for the tank. I'll probably get a spotted raphael.
