Yesterday I purchased a few Rainbow platies to accompany my Red Wag. The lfs was out of stock of Red Wag's.
One Rainbow since I released it has been staying in the upper left hand corner of my tank. I tried feeding them. And all but this one has eaten.
No other fish bother him. What should I do with him. There is enough females in the tank. I feel if he stays there he will die within a few days.
I have no quarantine tank.
Thanks.

I am not the most experienced fish keeper around here by far but I have also seen this behaviour in new arrivals. Sometimes one or two of the fish I have bought have stayed for a day or two very close to the surface and in one of the four corners. In my few cases this has passed and the fish eventually gets used to their new home and swim down to explore the tank - when they are ready I guess.
Unless he is gasping for air or showing other signs of desease/stress etc I would guess he will not die from what you are describing - and if not sick will probably eat when he is hungry enough?
Hope someone more experienced gives you proper advice if its needed. :)
Give it a little time to settle in. Some fish don't eat right away.

Seawulf, your advice is spot on! No one knows everything and everyone knows something - contributions from all are what make this forum so valuable.:ssmile:

Let it settle in, he should adjust, if he does not he is probably a sick fish and you should return him for a replacement.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
I had plans today if he was still acting the same to take him back to the lfs. When I came home today from work he was on the bottom of the tank and not moving.
Wondering now if it was sick or stressed.
