Demon is hte male...the female right now is separated because he was too mean to her...and the bolivian also had to be rehomed because of Demon. But as you will see in the pics, the bolivian seems quite happy in new home with peaceful tankmates.

I love your rams. Nice pics. I wanta to get a conversation going in the thread I started "Dwarf's cichlids" but got no takers so will ask you here.

I noticed before you have German Blues. What will they go with peacefully and would a 30 gallon be too small for them, you think? I take it loaches would be OK but wondering about other small cichlids.
Thanks Kimmers

Unfortunately...I didn't have any luck keeping my german blue rams Hobbs. I set up a 29 gal specifically for a couple of pairs of gbrs, a pair of kribs, and possibly a few others, but those were the main fish I wanted. Softened the water...cycled the tank and started with 3 kribs...returned 1 after 2 paired up. Then came home with Demon, my male. I put the danios in from another tank and when all seemed to be doing well, I added 2 dwarf gourami.....Demon wouldn't allow them in the tank....so they went back to Q tank to heal from the damage. I tried 2 females with him....he wouldn't have any of that either, so they were removed. Apparently 1 of the females had an internal bacterial infection that I did not catch in time and I ended up losing the 2 females and 1 of the dwarf gourami to it, was able to save the 2nd gourami. I then tried the bolivian ram, who is supposed to be slightly more aggressive than the gbr, and Demon beat the snot out of him...he is now named "Sissy". A few weeks later I lost Demon and am not sure why. I know they can be delicate fish, but have to figure whatever the females had must have been passed to him. No symptoms were evident until it was too late and in frustration I gave up. Sissy is still going strong and the other fish I have since added to that tank have done well. I did end up losing ma and pa krib to what I believe were natural deaths...no signs of illness. I had purchased them as adults so I had no idea how old they were. They tried to spawn a couple of times but I never ended up with fry. Thus, I have not had any luck with the gbrs, and as beautiful as they were I have decided to wait until I can set up a species tank for them if I ever decide to try them again. This way hopefully the aggression will be spread out, instead of aimed at only a couple of fish.
