I learned, today, just how far a good relationship with your local Petsmart Pet Care Manager can go. I got, a call this afternoon from her telling me that their freezer just cut out on them and they were going to have to get rid of all their frozen foods. Well, I'm rather particular about what kind of frozen food I use so I asked if she had any Hikari frozen left, she said that they did. I went there and got 10 packs of Hikari bloodworms and 10 packs of Mysis shrimp for $1 per pack. I have plenty of frozen food to last me a while. :)

no, not really. I did in the past, but I got to know the people there, got to talk to them and just through course of conversation they came to respect me for the help I was able to offer their employees in the area of fish knowledge. They learned from me, and I purchased a few fish from them, so we both won. Now, my phone number is on the dry-erase board in the back room so they can call me when things like this come up. :)
I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, but developing relationships like this go a lot further then bashing these stores for lack of knowledge in a public forum.

I'm surprised they didn't just drive it all over to another store or put it in the "holding area" (aka freezer where all the dead things go) in the back until they could get it fixed or get a new one. Granted that may not seem all too sanitary, but everything is sealed, both the animals and the food packaging. Oh well, you lucked out, so congrats thumbs2: .

They did put it in the other freezers in the store SunShein, but they still needed to get rid of it because it had started to thaw. It wasn't to the point that it wasn't usable, but it was to the point they couldn't sell it at full price. Taking it to another store wasn't really an option either, the closest one is half and hour away and it was almost 100 degrees here yesterday. lol

Many stores won't do that and will write it off at loss rather than sell at discount. I once saw this parrot covered in ick and knew from the amount of ick the fish would be dead within a day or two. I offered to buy it for half price just to see if I could save it and they said they couldn't do that. (It was dead the next day.)
I've seen end of season plants that were about ready for the compost pile but try to buy them at discount and you get a big NO, can't do that! Never made sense to me but then I don't know their cooperate rule on those matters.
How did they manage to have your phone number on file? You'd think they would have just had a big store sale that day to allow all their customers the opportunity to buy those frozen products at a reduction. Anyway, you got one heck of a good deal.

That's the whole point I'm making Hobbs. They were available to everyone, but because of the relationship I have with the store they called me first. They don't have my number on file, I gave it to the manager so she could call me with questions she couldn't answer.
