I just recently inherited an oscar and I'd like to get a moonlight for his tank to keep him from getting spooked. The issues I'm having are that I don't know anything about moonlights and that my tank does not allow for any lighting strips or bulbs in front of or behind my current light and hood. I have 2 bio wheel set ups in the back of the tank as well as a canister filter which take up most of the back wall of the tank. In front of the filters is my lighting unit. I'd prefer not to have to replace this because it's just another cost. Then, in the front is the lid that flips open on either side to feed the fish. So, can moonlights go on the side of the tank or where is the best place for them?

I have never done it but you will find several threads around here about DIY moonlights.

Well, old granny has deleted her post for obviously reasons.

Must be nap time?

I used a set of these on my 75 Gallon, 1 lunar light and one lunar link. They are small enough that they will fit between the bulbs on a standard fluorescent shoplight. I mounted mine using double sided tape. Little pricey but they do put the light out.
