Resting Aponogeton Ulvaceus

I just found out that Aponogeton ulvaceus is a plant with dormant periods. Will this happens "by it self", or do I need to care for it in any special way? Like putting it in a bucket with less/no light, or lower the temperature or anything? Or can I keep it in the tank?
