Actually it is most likely a Tilapia cichlid. Tilapia is a group of fish (the name of a genus) and there fore a term for a long row different cichlids from the genus tilapia and a few other as well.

This looks like tilapia joka

IMO it looks like a severum. A very young Green severum. What i have seen at stores labeld, "Green severum" matches this pic perfectly.

Don't know much about tilapias, but it's a pretty broad category, kinda like saying "tetra" ... could be a bunch of different things.

That said, it looks an awful lot like the juvenile severums we have at the store at the moment.

Kind of important not to buy unknown fish for this reason. You don't know the size it will become or what is compatible with a fish that is unknown. He is a pretty little thing, tho. I also would venture to say Severum, which is an awesome fish.

Nice fish!
I once bought what I was told (My lfs) were two green severums.I was told several times after that they were green sevs.
As it turned out they were not sevs at all but Malaysian Perch!lol
They do look similar as juvies but changed as they grew.
Do your homework before buying fish!lol

I think the talapia joka has a longer more slender look to it.
