Our LFS is changing hands. I wonder if they will be keeping the same staff. I have been dealing with the "fish guys" for 10 years now and we have great history. It would suck to start from square one again.

Must be just your store. I know PetSmart has just opened 19 stores around Canada so possibly they are selling out some stores that brought in less profect.

Im sorry to hear that. I would think they would keep the same employees. I can recall similar situations around here of stores being bought out and the majority of employees were still there. Hopefully this is the case!

We already have a PetSmart a few blocks from here. I think they are just buying out their competition. I just hope they don't close the store after a few months. IF they do, I'm moving!

YOU CANT BE SERIOUS. Superpet always has the crappiest staff to ever walk the earth! Last time i went someone left the plug in the sink and the python was on, making the python overflow, and the workers were in the back throwing buckets around.

petsmarts staff are better than that though

In every store, it's the workers that make all the difference. A great restaurant with super food and a crummy waitress ruins the whole thing. A great selection of fish but crummy looking tanks and stupid employees is just as bad. You end up hating the whole store over their employees but it all comes back to employers not hiring qualified help and not wanting to pay them anything.

Very true. I'm in the petstore a lot...so much turnover! Seems to be less than a year...

...good employees also come with good managers...don't know why these stores can't employ better managers...

Most of the employees at the Superpet are Morons. There have only been a handful of good people working there over the years and most leave after feeling unappreciated. The head of the fish department left last year, which was a shame, he was knowledgeable and fair and always gave me a discount :ezpi_wink1: . We then had a variety of crappy replacements who could do the job. Now we have "Bob" the fish guy, who is nice, but not that knowledgeable. I know more about fish then he does, but at least he cares about the fish. I just hope he stays on and isn't replaced by some lazy teenager (no offense to any younger members). Most chain stores run on part time staff only, which means that there is never anyone there long enough to give a sh*t about the fish.

Thats no offense to young people.

I used to have a friend who got abused by his dad alot, and i saw him get beat once. From then on, he began to be a drug abuser and hes really not a bad guy, its just his family. I hadnt seen him for about 3 years, and sure enough i see him working at super pet, and he knows nothing about fish.
