plant is dying.

my Cabomba caroliniana is dying =[.
the tops are going brown, and all the little shoots off the main stem are going brown. anything i can do to save it? or should i just start over?
it is odd as about a week ago it was growing very well. and looking exceptionally healthy. not sure what has changed.

Well how big is the lights and how big is the tank? If their is not enough nutrients then it will die. Ha. Nitrates could be consumed to fast. not leaving enough for the plant to thrive and survive.

nitrates were at 20 about 5 days ago. and plant had started to brown then. however, i do have a fair few plants. Should i get some of those nutrient tablet things?

well light comes in through my windows during the day, and i have a light which spans the length of the aquarium inside the hood. not sure which globe it has in it though, as the previous owner supplied it.

it says that it doesn't like frequent replanting. and just before it started dying i found it floating (filter must have blown it loose form the gravel). after i replanted it happened once more about 2 hours later. reckon that could be the cause?

Cabomba need a lot of light so that is probably the problem.

Cabomba is a pain with even the correct conditions.It wants calm water,hi c02,and balanced nutrients available through the water column.They do not take in nutrients through the roots but very little.Your light must be quality lighting in the 3 wpg range with a k rating of 6500 to 10K,some form of co2 is a must with cabomba and it will not flourish without it.I used excel with some success.

maybe i should ditch this plant then... it is odd as it seemed to be growing well just last week.

also i looked at my light, and the only thing i can see on it is T110 in a little circle. is this an indication of watts or anything? i think ill open another thread asking about it.

That is just the physical size of the light. I guarantee its not strong enough.

As smaug said the plant is a pain in the rear.
I really do not why they continue to see it.
Cheap granted I guess as it dies either replace it and go on, or try something different.
Swords are good; val is also a bunch out there that are better.
I had it and no matter whatever you do over a few weeks time all the little whorls start coming off of it and it falls apart.:11:
