What the heck! What could have done that? Just saw the little guy tearing around the tank and here he is with a hole in the side of his head and half his mouth gone. I have BN in with my corys. Could they have done that? Now I have to tear everything apart to catch the little guy. Darn it!

Wow that really sucks, hope the little guy pulls through. Are there any decorations or sharp pieces of wood in the tank? He may have gotten spooked and ran into something? :scratchheadblue:

Do you have sharp wood or anything in the tank?

IME people often consider how harsh their substrate will be but dont consider sharp edges of wood and decor. Ive had it happen to a cory before, ended up being the decor and not the substrate, other 5 were fine. I think he got pinched/stuck and hurt himself getting free. He looked exactly as you describe.

The good news is, he didnt show any signs of stress or unhappiness, didnt have to cull or anything. At the most he may have a little harder time finding food

The poor baby! Hope he pulls through. And hey, maybe he can get a new nickname. Two-Face?

It was probably the BN. My BN is a killer, and has killed 2 plecos, and 3 corrys.

I would imagine he did it to himself. I hope he recovers.

I will have to put him down. He can not survive with half a mouth. I have nothing in the tank but plants and one rock with a piece of slate leaning on it which is home to the BN. Nothing he can crawl into even. He stuck his nose somewhere it wasn't wanted, apparently.

Swell day. Just noticed my featherfin is sporting a nice heater burn. What a day! Cory with mouth torn away, featherfin with a burn and pooping parrots.
