I have a clown pleco, maybe 1.75" long, pretty sure he's a panaque maccus. Anyways, I hear people talk about how their commons double in size in a couple months, but I don't think my clown here has hardly grown in the time I've had him(almost 2 months). I assume since they're small they'll grow slower, but I'm just wondering how old they usually are before they reach full adult length.

It sounds like he is about half way there now.lol
They only get about 4" in length.

most plecs, except commons, will grow very slowly. A few months is nothing, give him a few years. :hmm3grin2orange:

thanks, that was kinda what I figured but I thought Id ask anyways since some fish hit full size inside a year(though those are usually fish with like a 2-3 year lifespan, not 20).

I have bought 1 1/4" Ancistrus that breed after haveing them for 13months. They were then only 3" tops, and now has not stopped produceing fry every 6-7 wks. I would say one yr. if feed some good food, high protien and add some water current- keeps them exersizeing. No steroids though; thats cheating.:11:

You should check out a food product from kensfish.com on line. I am very impressed with one in particular; it is called Golden Pearls. It is a 60% Protien food that stays in suspention like live brine shrimp. My fish like it as well, I give my baby plecos a little at night and that keeps them hunting all night too. He has a lot of awesome fish foods available and i've tried a lot of them. I like to spoil my fish a bit but they grow faster too.
