View Full Version : Mystery Snails: Big Ammonia Machines???
The 25l tank is having the most issues as far as water quality goes. I've been doing a 50% change weekly and I always have low levels of nitrites...
I think it's the snails...
I'm down to 5...the one that jumped yesterday didn't survive the night...I'll see if that makes any difference to the water quality.
I can't blame it on Mr. Plakat...so it must be the snails...

25 liters is about 5.5 gallons right?
EDIT: Nevermind, forgot about the calculator. Its 6.605 gallons. Depending on how big your snails are, you could be alittle over stocked.
...about 6.6 gallons I calculated...
Yes, overstocked! Didn't think snails would be so dirty!

I have one in a 25g and my ammonia is always at 0, and the substrate is never dirty...
...yes, you have 1/5 of the snails, and 4X the water volume that I do...don't imagine your one guy would have much of an impact...
...but it's their gregarious nature I'm enjoying so much...
I suppose I'd just better keep up on more frequent water changes...

you could always take 2 or 3 and put them in other tanks?
I could do that...and might if the water quality stays below par...
...but then I'd lose all the fun of watching 'their herd' activities!
LOL...it's a no-win sitution for me!
