You may remember me saying that I was going to geta 55gal for my room, but I worked out that if I was to get rid of my smaller 7gal tank I would have room for a 4ft tank.

I was looking at the Juwel rio 300 and told my boss that that was the one that I wanted to buy and he said that he had one for sale and instead of the usual price of £400 I paid £50 for the tank and lights but not the filter which is cr@p anyway!

Can't wait till I get the stand which is coming in on Tuesday, then I'm going to put a pair of Oscars and some Convicts in it.

Wow, super cool deal. What kind of filtration are you going to put on it?

Very cool! I would go with a nice HOB filter and an Eheim canister

Agreed with Severus. An Eheim 2028 and an Aquaclear 70 would be a knockout combination!

My LFS has two open top tanks that are like indoor ponds almost. The are each 680 gallons, and in each they have, 2 oscars 4 convicts, 2 JDs, 1 GIANT pleco (they call them pleacos lol), 5 large tiger barbs, and some other large cichlids i cant identify. I think they use a wetdry with them though. I tried to open the cabinet to sneak a peek, but they locked it...

You should just ask them if you can see their filtration. I asked at PetCo and they opened up the cabinet. Some kind of gigantic marineland filter, large biowheel attachment.

I've got some problems with this, I told my mum I was getting the 55 gal and showed her it and she said I could but when she came home and saw that it was now up to 84 gal she was a little cross.

She says that I can't put it into my room cos shes scared the floor will break and told me that I would have to sell it.

I think that I'm talking her around to letting me keep it downstairs but it may take some time.

Tell her if she lets you keep it that she can even get to pay for all the things needed!
