Gouramis and Bettas are not good centerpiece (aka Show-fish) for Danio tanks, because the Danio is such an active species that it can stress out Gourami/Betta.

Tell us your tank size, then we can find something that'll fit in there with them.

That is a 10gal., You will not have much room after a school of blue danios, you will need more room.:14:

Devario aequipinnatus is your species. They are similar in size to giant danios, meaning they grow up to six inches, though more usually four inches in regular-sized aquariums. Given that, they do get a bit too large for a 10 gallon, so you may want to take them back and get one of the smaller danio species instead, like Brachydanio nigrofasciatus, the spotted danio, since they grow to just over an inch and you could have six or eight of them in your 10 gallon.

I agree. The tank is way over stocked with the Species you have.
Not to mention any fish with long fins like Bettas, would get nipped, same with Gouramis IME.

So u mean to say...they are too big for my tank...?? but the storekeeper said they are blue danios and get to max 3- 4 inches only.....

3-4'' IS actually too big for your tank, with that many in there.

its only 2 pairs... wont they get adapted??.... the local fish storekeeper had also said... if ur fish grow big...he'll take them and give new young ones...
btw how much time will it take for these to reach their full size??
they are around 2-2 1/2 inch long now.

If we put four kids in one small room for their entire lives, yeah, they'd get adapted too.

Since the tank is so small the side affects are stunting very short lives. The effect IMO would start strait way since they wont have much room to swim around in, though that would depend on how large they are now.

Same as what VoidParadigm said in as many words.

They are 2-2 1/2 inch long... how long will it take for them to grow to their full size... and the storekeeper had said if they have grown big ...he'll give me other fish in exchange...so till what time can i have them??

That depends exactly on feeding and water quality how quickly they will reach their adult size.

i feed them once a day......and i change 10% water every 2 days

It is more the quality of the food which influences the growth speed.
So if they are on good food, I would not give them to long a few months to get bigger, more 6 months and I would get rid of them at the max.

I would get rid of them now. Since at 2 1/2in that is a large fish dashing around in a very small tank IMO.

My 15g which holds my Baby severums, just before they are shipped of make the tank look small when they are 2in long.

Those are giant danios....there is no way keeping them in that tank is good for them.

You also run an incredibly high risk of getting airborne fish keeping something as big and active as a danio in such a small tank. Not sure how well you will be able to trade in a dried out fish...

Dave66- A Devario aequipinnatus IS a giant danio. Not really similar, but the exact same thing.

aequipinnatus is more slender and more blue than the commonly available giant danio malabaricus. The latter is sold far more than the former.
They both grow to six inches but are two distinct species of giant danio.
