will be setting up the new fluval 190 tank soon.has fluval 205 canister with it.i also purchased older sponge filter with power head.is it a good idea to run both if i can to have more good bacteria available when cleaning?thumbs2:

the more filters the better. most of my tanks have a HOB and canister combined

with large and long tanks, you want one filter on one side and one on the other so you dont have any "dead spots" where there is no flow or current, and 2 filters, one on each side, evens the flow.
if youre planning on a salt tank, powerheads are good too
Agreed. Cannister + HOB = great idea. I'm in the process of converting all of my tanks (except the 10s and the 5.5) to include at least one HOB.

sure will. Long tanks and tall tanks and large regular tanks all have the same problem, dead spots. Long tanks have the left and right sides to worry about, tall tanks have the bottom, since only canister filter intakes can reach there, and big regular tanks have a mix of the two.
