OK, so after round 4 of breeding, my angelfish eggs finally survived long enough to hatch. This is in a community tank and I'm surprised they have lasted this long.
My question is what can I put in the fry tank water to help prevent mold? I don't have any type of antibacterial stuff except for Melafix. Will that work?
Also, I know the parents take better care of fry, than fry left to mature in their own tank. Is it safe to move the parents into the fry tank with the fry, or is it better to just move the fry? I don't want to leave the fry in the community tank.

Move the fry, into a tank with the same water and temp as what is in the main tank. The fry should be fine without any treatment. A gentle air filter will work nicely. Feed them newly hatched brine shrimp. Once they are swimming. Good luck.

Congrats on the new fry!! I agree with rich, move the fry to a seperate tank. The shouldn't need treatment.

Ok, small disaster with moving the fry. We started out with 40 fry on the conch shell. When I tried to move it into a container (gently) to move the fry to the new tank, all of the fry came off and floated around the tank. Babies everywhere!!! We managed to save 9 fry (including 2 out of the filter, that my son insisted on trying to save).
So far all nine fry are doing well. Most of the egg sacks are gone and we have little eyes on every one of them. :D (the two pulled out of the filter seem to be quite active!)

Just checked on the fry and we actually have 11. I don't know where the other 2 had been hiding before, but since I started putting fry food in the water, they have come out of hiding. They still aren't free swimming yet, still clinging to whatever surface they can.

No need to feed until they swim. Be sure to remove any uneaten food. Clean water is key here.

We have 5 swimmers. :D
Unfortunately we lost a few fry, but 5 swimmers out of 11 isn't bad and we have a couple more trying. :)
Trying to keep the floor clean without disturbing the fry that haven't gone for a swim yet. That's a bit of a challenge. lol
