Well, an old friend died yesterday, an AC 20 at least I think it was an AC 20, its been through some modifications through the years and most parts have been replaced, repaired, etc... Thinking back I am pretty sure I had it for almost 15 years, although it was not in continual use that long, but its one of the first filters I ever got. So I came home and stepped in a puddle of water, the o ring that seals the motor from the impeller and the intake area had busted I guess and the filter had continued to pump water for I am not sure how long but it had just been leaking out the bottom and continued to pump until it had either shorted out from water or because it ran dry from pumping as much as it could out of the tank. There was probably a good 10-15 gallons of water on the floor and I think the other filters were close to burning out because of running dry. Grinding is typically not a good noise to hear from a filter motor... Thankfully I have the shop vac always handy and it doesn't seem the water sat too long, there is no damage, I have a weird linoleum like floor that I sealed because I have experienced things like this before. it's not pretty when you come home from vacation to a broken 80 gallon and warped floor...

Anyway, she was a good old filter, and will be missed, just felt I would share another one of my cruddy stories, oh, and all the fish are fine and happy, thankfully that was an extra filter I run for quarantine purposes.

Plastic to plastic, dust to dust
You were the best filter
And never did rust
