Cherry Shrimp in uncycled tank?

Hi,

I am not familiar with how hardy shrimp are. Can Cherry Shrimp be introduced into an aquarium while it is being cycled with fish? I figured they would eat un-eaten food and help with the a/n/n levels.

Also I wanted to boost their population during this time.

If not, I guess I'll just have to get them after everything is cycled.

Not a good idea. Shrimp are VERY sensitive to ammonia. Cherries are pretty hardy for shrimp, but they're still sensitive to the presence of ammonia. Get the tank fully cycled then add the RCS. They're very prolific, quite entertaining and active. Their bio load is very low so you can have a TON of them. :)
