View Full Version : Is an Oscar in a 75 a lonely fish?

Or can they have a tankmate? My research seems to indicate that ideally two Oscars go together in an 8ft tank, and 75gs are 6ft. Is this accurate? If so, is there another fish that can go in with it or must it lead a lonely life? Such a big tank with one fish seems a waste.
Thanks.

My 75 is four foot and I think an oscar full grown would fill it well.

One oscar does fine alone in a 75.
You could squeeze a mid sized pleco in there too if the oscar will permit it.
Some people think the fish gets lonely, they don't.They just want food added to the tank or feeder fish.lol.
I had one alone for yrs in a 75 and he had no problems with it.I tried adding other fish to the tank when it was younger and it decided it wanted its own space.
