Fish eggs/fish (guppy) fry?

Reason I'm asking is that I have a 10 gallon that isn't in use right now, and I'd really like to stock it with just ghost shrimp and guppies. My lfs is having a sale, a dozen for 5$ on ghost shrimp, and although I was originally interested in just keeping a few ghosts in a 1 gallon jar, I'm really interested is starting a guppy "family." When the tank is about to be overcrowded, I'll use extras as feeder fish for my other tank(s)

I'm just planning on having a flat floor covered in java moss, with a bunch of ghost shrimp running around and the guppies. If I can figure out a way to do it, I may make some "cliffs" around the edges of the tank as well, just to add visual appeal :P

So yeah, enough rambling. Will it be safe to add ghost shrimp or would they eat the fry?

And the reason I'm asking is because if any of my egglayers in my main tank breed, I may be interested in adding the eggs to this tank.

I can't imagine they would. They may pick at any dead fish they find, but shouldn't actually do any of the killing themselves. You may want to look around for a better deal on those ghost shrimp, though. The one store near me does 10 shrimp for a little over a dollar. They sell theirs primarily as feeders, but I went in a took a few home to my tanks. A few of the nicer sized ones have survived so far.

I'll ask my mom if I can order offline, but she's not too fond of the whole online business; I'm not really either, considering they're living things. But, I suppose ghost shrimp aren't too hard to ship.

They're sold as feeders here too, but it's almost as if my two lfs created a monopoly, lol... It seems when one store doesn't have one fish, the other does, and the prices tend to be really high compared to what I see online.
