I got this fish with my new tank (60 cm, 14 gallon) and moved him to my Rio180 (100 cm, 47,5 Gallon) tank.
Now there is some information about this fish on the internet but i would like to hear some stories from people who have also have this fish or had this fish in the past.
Here are two pictures of my Dragon Goby;

Sorry, don't have one at the moment... Wish I have... That's on my "to do" list... Or on the gift list of my boyfriend (well, finger cross, eh!).
I can share what info I found on the internet, but I'm pretty sure you have find them as well.
It seems that they need fine gravel, for they sift for their food. They're non too agressive for other fish, but could be territorial with others like them.
They need slightly brackish water... People don't always agree on the level... I've seen every number!!!
And they need hiding hole.
That's the summary... I could go on forever but I'm pretty sure you will find more details on yourself...
Keep us posted on this beauty ... And good luck!!

They are a very cool looking fish.
They do get large and should be kept in a species only tank.
Here is a link to some good info on keeping these fish.

Thx for your reply's!
I just replaced the gravel in front of the tank and put sand in it instead.
After 5 minutes he came to the front and crawled into the sand! :)
@ dragongoby; i think you have to give your boyfriend a small sign ;)
Are these fish easy to get in your area?

Yeah! He already knows about it :hmm3grin2orange: But I'm lucky, we share this love for fishies so he's not too mad at me!
Actually, yes, they very easy to find in our area. I know at least two to three petshop that keep them... In freshwater, which is not good but well...
Here is a link that I find very very informative and useful, IMHO...

They seem to be a little straight on what to do or not to do, but they give good advice and lots and lots of info on brackish system wich is not always easy to find, as well as fresh and saltwater...
And good job for the sand thumbs2: I'm sure you're going to enjoy the little beast very much!!!

Thanks for the link! Will read as soon as possible.
The Goby i got with my tank is allready used to fresh water. The former owner bought it at the petshop where they told him nothing about brackish water. A friend of him bught one to but this one died after a couple of days.
Next to the fresh water he also eats dryfood. I feed him some fridge food as well like once a week.
Ow before i forget, how can i see if it's a male or female?
Here some more pics of him/her.

Not sure if you know this, but even though they look like they could kill just about anything, these guys aren't at all predatory.
Really neat fish though! I'd love to get one, but there's just too many fish, so little money :hmm3grin2orange: I really love watching them "puff up" their mouths!

Hi Jeddi,
I read the same and thats why i wanted to keep him. At first i thought he would eat all of my fish but most of the time he's hugging with the Khuli's :)

Nice vid, dragon gobys are pretty cool, and something about their beady little eyes always makes me laugh a little. I liked the part when he went at the pleco and they both flipped out for a second, then you see the pleco sitting there with sand all over it, gave me a giggle. maybe the pleco thought he was camoflauged after that lol.
I kept one succesfully for a LONG time when I was younger in purely fresh water, at the time I had no idea about them liking brackish water. By the time I found out he had been in full freshwater for probably 2 years, and I didn't think the change would help much. I've personally never seen any aggression out of one, but they certainly do look pretty mean and tough.

I hope someone can help me with my problem.
The dragon goby is turning pale and loses all his colour. In the meanwhile he acts pretty normal bij swimming around and eating.
I'm a bit worried so my question is: should i?
When he's out of his hole i'll try to make a picture.

A picture would probably help a lot. you may want to make a new thread in either beginnner or the fish diseases sub forum. That way you're more likely to get answers about this problem and not just people that think its more responses to this thread.
