View Full Version : sick betta fish
Hi, I've got betta fish and I'm not sure whats wrong with him. Hi is almost lying down & when I give food it's hard for him to swim up. Looks like hi can't float, if somebody now whats wrong it will be very appreciate.I allready asked at the pet shop but they give only antibacterial remedy but it did't help.

first of all, welcome aboard this is a great forum. now for the issue at hand. in order to really help you we need the following info, how long has the tank been set up, how big is the tank, how often do you do water changes, how often you feed the betta?

Sounds like it could be swim bladder disorder. Is he bloated?
Yes, he little bit bloated. Is it something for treatment swim bladder disorder?
Before I fed him 3 pallets twice day, but now only 3 pallets a day. Hi seems to be more moving but still can't float.

Betta's can eat themselves to death...so you have to pay close attention to how you feed them.
I give my betta 1 pellet in the morning, and one more again in the evening. Maybe he just got too much food and is bloated and uncomfortable. A shelled, squished pea might help

i feed mine about 3 pellets every few days
I would say this is classic overfeeding. Stop feeding him for a few days and see if he rebounds. Keep checking your water parameters to make sure everything there is in order, too.

Stop feeding him for a week and only feed one swqished pea to him. Hopefully that will clear out his system.
