View Full Version : New Betta!

I was at the local Petco applying for a job, and with my friend getting some stuff for her chinchilla. I, of course, was browsing all the bettas. A few stood out, this Petco has a pretty impressive fish section, and most (more than you usually find in a pet store) were really healthy and quite pretty. One stood out, and I had to buy it. Since I've been working on setting up a 10 gallon I bought a tank and he's going to be housed in there as a centerpiece piece with some corries once I get the tank cycled. I'll be posting pics soon.

can't wait for the pictures! what kind is he?

Sorry about the delay with the pictures, and sorry for the picture quality. He's still settling in and a little shy, and obsessed with the filter. I got a few to show him off, though.

He's a crowntail with a black body and mostly black fins. They have some metallic aqua with little stripes, and then some white on his dorsal and ventral fins, and then a bit of red on his dorsal and anal fin that bleeds just slightly onto his body.

Oh, and his name is Vincent.

Thanks! I'll try tomorrow to get some better pictures so you can really see his colors. his finnage is almost reminiscent of a dragon betta.

Very nice betta. thumbs2:

I never have had a betta but after seeing so many of them here at AC I'm reading up on how to keep them myself.

They are really fun little fish. You get a lot of reward for pretty basic care, and they don't need a huge tank at all. You can also feel good that you're giving one a proper home and rescuing it form a little cup of certain death.

They can get pretty addicting though. I started out with one, then I got a female betta... now I have nine of them. The only reason I don't have more is because of limited room and money lol. They're great little fish though. They have tons of personality and are really quite beautiful.
