Ok, so still debating what to put in my little 6 gallon....I was thinking about some crabs. I have been browsing the web, and it says they need brackish water. So here's my questions: How much marine salt does it take to make the tank brackish, and how much to add for these crabs? Anybody have any experience with these guys? I could do crushed coral for substrate and holy rock to give them some places to climb out of the water (will help to buffer too). How many to add for a six gallon? 2 or 3?

Also, is this the same crab that pet stores label as "Fiddler crabs?"

I wouldnt personally do crabs. Ive seen more than enough of them kill other crabs or fish, and i wouldnt mess with them.

The specific gravity of a brackish tank i belive is 1.010-1.015, so you will need a hydrometer to test your water.

crabs are pretty easy to take care of. i had a few before. they like 1.012 gravity and 2 is a good number for a 6g. what you can do is have a big stack of rocks in a corner, and have large rocks allover for them. works well

So I keep adding marine salt until I reach specific gravity of 1.010? About how much is this per gallon? This would be a crab only tank, no fish or other creatures. about how much do hydrometers run?

Also, i will need a mini heater for this thing, maybe a 25 watt one. Who makes one this small that is submersible? I didn't see any visi stealth less than 50 watts. Thanks in advance.

After consulting my bag of instant ocean, it says .5 cups per gallon for 1.022. So less than that. Probobly 3/8 cup? Idk.

You can buy a cheap floating hydrometer for $4 at petco, or a cup style one for $15 at petco.
