For those of you who are unfamiliar with the cuttlefish, here's a nice little video I found on Yahoo that gives you a good look at some of their camouflaging abilities :22: .

I have been fascinated with cuttlefish since I was a child (I think I still have a rubber cuttlefish bath toy around my home somewhere...) I find the fact that they can learn so much without any parents nor any culture, unlike crows, primates, cetaceans, parrots and elephants, as a remarkable feat.

I wonder, if they did not die during procreation, would the seas be filled with vast, alien cuttlefish cities? I find it fun to ponder, personally.

I have seen one in a tank at an aquarium a few years ago. It can be done with the correct diet and correct maintenance schedule.

an old member here on AC a few years back posted a video of cuttlefish fry in a buddies home aquarium...they were amazing. not saying you couldn't keep them, but their lifespan is very short-lived in aquariums. I would love to keep one someday...
