Can you believe this is in the desert where the heat climbs to 120 degrees?
Our gas prices at work!
They have indoor ski hill resorts like that all over Europe.
Just a sidenote, 90% of Dubai's yearly revenue does not come from oil. Most of it comes from tourism actually, and building such attractions attracts more tourists, which equals more revenue for the country.

And probably costs them a fortune to ski.

I think you'll find that 60-75% of Dubai's income comes from oil, the rest from tourism and other forms of revenue.
The government of Dubai are aiming for 90% of income to come from tourism. this is due to the lack of oil which means that one day, Dubai's primary income will disappear, hence the construction of tourist attraction and palm islands 1, 2 and three and "world" islands.

My son told me tonight his fuel bill for one week was $3000. All his trucks are diesel.

Actually, they've already achieved the 90% mark, quite a few years ago at that. The success of Emirates Airlines is proof of Dubai's massive boom in tourism and revenue from other sources then oil.
BTW, my aunt bought one of the villa's on one of the World Islands. I can't wait to see it when it's completed, maybe we'll be there at the same time one day ... :)
Lady Hobbs, with a $3000/week fuel bill, I'm assuming your son has a trucking company of sorts?

He owns an asphalt paving company. Makes no out of town runs.......it's all in town work paving driveways and parking lots. Been going in the hole for the last two years with these gas prices, too.
