That I could fit in a 29 gal. and won't eat or uproot any plants?

When I say "larger" I mean 4-5 inches+... I like convicts but I think they'd probably uproot my plants.

Also, I feel like a bad fishy parent for even thinking about this, but what are some fish that could fit in my 29 gal and that could/would eat zebra danios, and won't eat/uproot my plants? I have 5 zebras atm... My lfs won't let me return them, they're probably suffering cause I didn't let the tank cycle with them, and I'd rather let something feed on them than just have to kill them :(

Not sure about the cichlids but I have to say that I think that you're thinking of your fish in a really irresponsible way. You can't just decide to kill something when you're sick of it.

I know, I know... I'm just thinking of the best thing to do with it. I don't want them to suffer anymore; the damage to their gills is probably irreversible and I'd rather feed them to something than just killing them... They aren't as active as they should be/used to be and I don't want them to suffer anymore. I know some people put their sick fish in ice or decapitate them, but I just couldn't handle doing that. :scry: Trust me, I wouldn't have made them suffer if I knew that it would be permanent.

Convicts would probably be fine with plants. A single male would be fine in a 29. If you get a male and a female, you will have more fry than you will know what to do with,so stick with just one.Feeding Cons feeders is not the best idea,IMO. I don't know if they would even eat the Danios, but they are not carnivores,so I would leave any live fish out of their diet.

Take a picture of the Danios and put them on Craigslist for free.I'm sure someone will take them and give them a good home.

Sure the Danios might be ok with a single convict...! try get a juvenile convict.

I have a load of Cryptoheros cutteri available, close to 200 1" young ones and 6 young adults ready to pair off and start spawning. The breeding pair lives in a 29 with a few BN pleco juvies and several Akysis catfish. I just moved 100 fry out of their tank, and there are still almost as many remaining.
I don't think they're likely to eat zebra danio's though.
