this thing showed up in my tank some time recently i just noticed it today here is a vid and pic please help i want to make sure its not some wierd bug thing which it probably is. it was eating off the plants i think.

i think that is a dragonfly larvae or damselfly larvae. i know that dragonfly larvae do eat small fish. not sure on the damselfly larvae. anyway here is a link that may help you identify your "bug"

i think thats the bug i removed it from the tank and now have it in a small jar

the above is correct. get rid of it unless you have larger predators. :)

well the only thing in the tank where i found it is my shrimp and i know they wont eat it but from what ive read it might it them so im definitely getting rid of it. i just hope there arent any more in my tank

Keep a close eye on the tank, damsel and dragon fly larvae will eat fish/shrimp/other insects/etc that are under 1".

ew, very gross. I would have sucked it up in my python and said good riddance!
Yup...damselfly larvae.
They can be quite long-lived, depending on species...2-3 years...
