I had a moonlight gourami several years ago but we never hear mention of them here. Does anyone have them?
Mine was in a tank with tetra's and other community fish and he was fine for a long time. Close to 6" with really long feelers. He spent a lot of time on the waters surface under some floaters and was one of my favorites. Things didn't go so well after I added a couple dwarfs and one in particular was not liked by this Moonlight, especially at bedtime because one of the dwarfs kept going into the Moons nighttime sleeping zone.
I've been wanting to get another but haven't seen them anywhere but also never hear of them on this forum. Just curious why they are not very popular.

Simply because of dwarf goramie males, as their natural selves or one of the man-made color morphs. They are small enough to fit into the small tanks most forum members have. Makes the larger goramie species like your moonlight out of vogue. A true shame.

Too bad because the moons are pretty awesome. Mine was like a mirror floating around. I don't care for the dwarfs, myself.

Hi. I have a moonlight. Bought 2 but they fought incessantly so took one back. Nice fish and peaceful with other species but a lot of lfs say they don't stock them as they're just plain silver so quite boring compared to the more colourful larger gouramis like golden, kissing and blue.

I really want one but my stocking just does not allow it. I really want a male because instead of just being silver he is also going to be a little orange on his belly. Truly a magnificent fish.

A couple of the LFS here carry them from time to time. I just haven't had a community tank large enough for them, my larger tanks go to cichlids. I wouldn't keep one in less than a 55g due to their size.

If I saw them at a good store I would buy some. One of the fish I always wanted to try.

He're really a beautiful fish and very, very shiney. Guess they do best either alone or with a female or will fight same sexes.

Never seen any in person. More fond of the blue variant Three-Spots anyways, since that's what the very first fish all of my own was.
Would like to try them one day, though!

I'd love them. I'd probably get one if my tank was larger.

They get 6 inches and should have more than a 20 gallon.

Just curious, what gourami gets the largest and how big do they get?

There are Giant Gouramis that are raised as food fish which get 2 foot plus. They are pretty cool fish in a big enough tank.
