Allright so here is what I want to do get a 10 gallon tank and split it up. Say into 3.5gallons each. I want to get three Male bettas and have the tank blocked off with glass. Would this work out? Glass would be siliconed down I am just worried about the betta that would be stuck in the middle by the hob filter..xDI can put the flow lower or a get a low powered filter. :) That or I might go for a 5 gallon and 5 gallon side and try breeding again. What should I do and how do I go about keeping it in place without falling to one side:)

If it's effectively sanctioned by glass into 3 tanks, you'll need 3 filters because the HOB in the middle won't take care of the other 2 bettas. Alternatively, you could buy a couple of screen dividers made for separating tanks out, and then you'd only need one filter for the entire tank, since the bettas would be sharing water. Good luck, keep us updated!

yah filtration is the biggest issue with this plan IMO.
Not sure if you could use a mesh rigid netting to create a divide that would still allow water movement. Never tried it or seen anyone do it.
Just thinking aloud...

Divide with mesh, filter with a Tom's Rapids canister filter. Pickup at one end, return at the other.
Filter: $25
DIY Dividers: $5

Never heard of that brand of canister - which makes me skeptical...
Might be able to use a HOB still depending on size of mesh

It's an excellent little canister and highly rated. It's good for up to a 20G tank, flowing 80GPH. It's the perfect solution for small tanks of all kinds.

The tom rapids canister is decent, also the zoo med 501 canisters work well too. I think a betta tank is better off with a weak canister or a sponge filter rather than a hob filter. 2 of the betta tanks I have at the moment are filtered with sponge filters.

I recently did just that with one of my tanks.
I purchased embroidary plastic mesh (it's white, but I heard it comes in colors) and a 'poster hanging kit'. You can also use those report covers, the kinds that are like, the plastic and the spine (which is colored) goes over the whole thing. I never found any like that. So I found at walmart, for about 5 bucks, a poster hanging kit, it was basically two long peices of plastic that you put on each end of a poster.
I measured my tank and cut the plastic grids to size. It came with like, 6 so I had some to mess up on. Then I cut the plastic ends and slid them over the grid. Fit them inside the tank. I siliconed them in, just a small bead of silicone between the divider and the tank- your not trying to make it watertight, just prevent the fish from uh... visiting!
I am running an Aquaclear 20 on mine, and a Azoo palm filter. I have the Aquaclear positioned so a bit of the output water goes into both sides of one divider. I cut a SMALL bit out of the top of one so it could stay in the middle. The Azoo palm filter runs on the other side.
Here's some pics of mine:
