Is the bamboo sold at petsmart ok for 55g tank? I dont know what kind they are but they are submerged under water. The staff was about as helpful as wet towel and so I am asking you all. Thanks:22:

It needs to be grown emersed, otherwise it will slowly die off and rot in your tank. If you go open topped you can grow it that way. Another option is to grow it out of a hob filter.

Hey gball,
Just something to keep in mind with bamboo. Most of what fish stores sell as bamboo is actually Dracaena and so isn't an actual bamboo. It is not meant to be fully aquatic and will most often times die off within a period of time. If it isn't Dracaena then it may be actual bamboo. If this is the case then it is important to research exactly what you're buying as many types will leach a toxin into the water that only certain fish are immune to. Best of luck:22:
