i found my dream lfs! I made 200$ at the garage sale, so i went for a canister filter. I found a new place, aquagiant, and its AMAZING. they have a 500g goldfish show tank, and about 200 saltwater tanks with fish for sale, and500 freshwater.
They sell HUGE tanks, like a 300g cube tank, an they have AWESOME little tanks with T-5 lights for 50$, 2g-5g. they also have huge T-5 lights for large tanks.
They treat filters like they cost NOTHING. i got mine for the hex, and its rated for 300g and i paid 99$ and it was half off. they also have aquaclear mini's on sale for 4.99, and driftwood 1$/lb. Its INSANE.
It's all oriental workers, and when you buy a canister filter, they treat you like ROYALTY. He walked me around and showed me EVERYTHING. They have huge bin's of filters marked 5/20$ and everythings on sale.
As soon as i set up the GODZILLA canister filter, i need more driftwood and fake plants.
I should mention, that store is chronas DREAM. T-5 lights are dirt cheap and the planted show tanks are AMAZING
...oh stop it! Now I wanna come shop in Edmonton...
...how much are their 75g tanks? Stands? Maybe it IS worth the 6 hour drive to get there...

a 75g would be cheap. a 10g cube with all the equipment, a good filter, gravel, plants, and a Y-5 light is about 88$, so id imagine a 75g with all the equipment would be 250, 300 with a T-5

Buy as much stuff as you can (like AC mini's) and resell them for 100% profit on ebay. Nuff said.

Im itching to go there again. If i was the owner, i would take that 500g goldfish tank home, and make it a godzilla community or african tank.
one thing kimmers would like, is theres TONS of puffers! its like a puffer convention
Here's a link for those who are interested ....

BTW, since you're going to Germany this summer. If you are going to be around the Duisburg area (which is just north of Dusseldorf and Cologne) I strongly suggest you pay a quick visit to the worlds largest pet store, Zoo Zajac. 8000 sq. meters and 1000 tanks for your viewing pleasure.

Do you realize you're going to get creamed with the current exchange rate. The the looney is even worse than the dollar right now to the Euro.
Not to mention, you're not going to want to deal with both voltage converters as well as plug adapters. These work great for the short term visit, but I don't know about their longevity.

i think what im going to get from aquagiant next is a T-5 for a 2.5g and a small filter. Since my 2.5g is sitting around, i may as well plant it with a betta
As Hungryhound already mentioned, the currency rate between the loonie and the Euro is not as good as it was a couple of years ago, right now $1.00 CAD will get you €0.68, but still, they have things there we can only dream about. I'm doing the same when I fly over in October.
Also, be careful (as Hungryhound also mentioned) with purchasing electrical equimpent there, Germany uses 220v and Canada only uses 110v, so unless the product has a built in power converter (such as on a laptop), it won't work here unless you buy a transformer to boost the power up.
BTW, I don't know if you've ever been in Germany before, but take my advice, especially if you're in the Ruhr area and buy a Currywurst mit Pommes/mayo which is a currysausage with fries and mayonnaise, yummy!

Now why would you go ruin a good German Bratwurst with Curry. :wink2:

lol, get the 500g and you could have a puffer convention and a little puffer town! just put a bunch of fake houses on the left, and heavily plant the right like a little forest, and you could have puffertown!

Housing a MBU in that tank would not work, those guys can get to 30" and it wouldn't even be able to turn around. Not to mention those guys are fast, active puffers which would require alot of swimming room. I considered a fahaka, but even those need 125 gallons. There are alot to choose from, just have to figure out what I really want and then FIND it. I may even just make it a loach tank for some of the larger loaches and use something for dither type fish. That would make an awesome display in my living room!
