William/Kimmers318, I have photos of my aquarium & fish downloaded from my digital camera to a photo file on the desktop of my computer. How would I go about reducing the size & posting them for everyone to see?

Posting pictures is a bit hard now which is why I am working to change the forum software since you can't automatically upload pictures to the AC server now and have to use somewhere else to host your pictures. Or email them to me and i'll upload them to our server.

Resizing them images is easiest done in a program like adobe photoshop or macromedia fireworks where there are resize image options.

You can just email me the pictures and I'll resize them and uplaod them. I thereafter give you the links you need to post the images. Email is admin[at]aquaticcommunity.com replace [at] with @.

William, sorry about the quantity, I thought I only sent you seven pictures. Is there any way to post them and delete the ones I dont like.

04-21-2006, 01:39 AM
You only sent me 7 pictures. I did some crop works to give you a few alternatives, some closeups etc.

Just use the ones you want and ignore the rest. You might want to post others later.

Well, William...maybe you can give me a few pointers. I used adobe photoshop elements 4.0. I always resize them to around 3x2 or 4x6 but then when I post them on photobucket they still come up huge. The only clue I have on photobucket is the pixel size, so I try to take it down to around 3-400 width, the one sparkling gourami pic was down to less than 100x100 pixels....like 29 k and it still was coming out large. Would it help to take my pics smaller with my camera setting? Or any other suggestions you might have. I also have photoshop explosion or printmaster I can use. The elements I found on sale last Christmas with rebates and payed like $50 for that plus the video editing software I hope to use in the future so it was a great steal! Plus it works well with my graphire draw set I am learning to use.

I wouldn't change the camera settings. The pics might become smaller but the quality decreases. I persoally think it is better to have higher quality pictures and than edited them when need.

Now on to editing pictures. What you say sound strange. The picture I have done for scooter usually have a witdh of 500 pixels. (which should make it fit on screen even for those who use low screen resolution). It almost sounds like you don't save the changes correctly after having done them. I am not familiar with adobe photoshop elements 4.0 so I can't say exactly but I think I have it installed and can take a look at it if you want to. I usually use Mcromedia fireworks which has a 30 day trial version if you would like to try it.
