What about something like kribs or do you want something that spend more time in caves.

Some do other don't. It depends on the individual fish but a cave is usually the center of their territory and they spend time in it outside the breeding period. How much depend as earlier mentioned on the individual and the company.

i see, well i have numerous un-used caves and pots which i wish to use, so i wanted to buy a fish that will use the pot and hang around it a bit and when startled hide in the shelter (not that i'd play monters and jump out from under the tank and scare the fish or anything)

either the gouramis, catfish and barramundi which wont harm anything else ive put in there except the minnows, or, the oscars and severum which currently have an pushed over pot and a pvc pipe which has a 4 inch opening at each end and a 2 inch opening coming off the side of the pipe

OK. So i will have to figure something out that isn't small enough to be considered food. pike cichlids that we talked about earlier might be a good options. They spent quite some times hiding in caves, especially while younger.
