I'm looking in the future (1-2 years time) to build a large aquarium.

The plan is to have only a window of 5 by 2 feet visable from my living room with the tank itself situated in its own room for maintainence access.

I am planning to have a header where I can dechlor the water before putting it in the main tank and also having plumbed drainage.

For filtration I was planning using an overflow down to a large sump with home built sponge and bio filtration in the sump to be pumped back up with a water pump.

I was looking at 2 of these.

I would preffer to go with two pumps as in the scenario that one fails at least there would be half flow whilst waiting for a replacement.

what do you guys think/recommend???

cheers, chris

In my plansfor a 300-500 gal tank I am exploring a custom wet/dry sump powered by FX5s. Just a thought I figured I would share.

I like that alot buddy.

I think if I were doing it with them I'd be using two but they look pretty good!

Another plus to using them would be that there would be no need for a sump and also the power consumption is pretty good.

I could have a 50g header to dechlor and have an overflow running to an industrial sink in the maintainance room to drain off the extra water when adding fresh.

Also means when cleaning out the media I could just plug the sink and keep a bit of tank water to clean it in.

Oh the possibilities ;)

Keep the ideas coming though guys :)
